With football season right around the corner we are switching gears and talking about football. After a crazy end to the season last year we are hoping for some normalcy this year. In this article we are going to give you our top 4 players who we think have a chance to take home this coveted award.
Bryson Singer- QB- Parkersburg
When you talk about an all around athlete this name better come up. Bryson is the best QB in all of WV and his senior season looks like it’s going to be his best season yet. A tough and true dual threat athlete than can beat you on the air or on the ground with his speed, and is a threat to beat you no matter where he is lined up at on the field. Bryson is our preseason pick to take home the Kennedy.
Jeremiah King- RB- Robert C Byrd
An elite back against any level of competition in the state. His production has been off the charts. The last two seasons he has amassed 3,750 yards on the ground and 47 rushing TDs. What makes King such a threat is he is a true Three Down back. Excellent pad level when running between the tackles, he is almost always square when he hits the hole which makes it difficult to bring him down. He has that last gear when he is in the open field that a lot of defenders in WV cannot match. What’s more is he really developed his pass catching ability out of the backfield last season. He is threat to house the rock every touch he gets.
Trey Dunn- QB- South Charleston
Trey is another name a lot of people have been talking about this off-season after a fantastic season a year ago. With the departure of some of his favorite weapons Dunn will have to grow pretty quick and build that trust with these younger pass catchers for the black eagles. With that being said Dunn is a smart quarterback who can also use his feet to escape the pressure and would be able to gain some yards. Trey should be able to lead SC to another playoff run this fall.
Atticus Goodson- RB- Independence
I don’t think there is a more workman like RB in the state. Goodson will give you 40 carries in a game without batting an eye. He can do it all, like King he is a true Three Down back. He exploded onto the AA scene in 2019 and has racked up 3,407 rushing yards for his career to go with 52 TDs total. What makes Goodson so dangerous is you better bring it every play cause at Six feet and a healthy 220 pounds he is running through and over you, and then out of nowhere he has the shiftiness to make you miss. He’s reliable catching out of the backfield. He is just a headache for opposing DCs to game plan for.
With these four being at the top of our list preseason, take a second and let us know what you think and who should have made this list.
